Halsonus creates sensory environments informed by psychology, neuroscience, and thoughtful design. We partner with artists, hospitality brands, wellness spaces, and cultural organizations to intentionally shape atmosphere through scent and sensory experience.

Rather than simply adding fragrance to a space, we consider how people move through it, what they notice, what they remember, and how subtle sensory cues can quietly influence the experience of being there.

Tom Petty Estate — Residential Atmosphere Design

As the Malibu home of Tom and Dana Petty prepared to come to market, Halsonus was invited to help shape the atmosphere of the space.

Brain Wave candles and essential oils were thoughtfully placed throughout the home, creating an environment that felt calm, welcoming, and memorable without ever calling attention to itself. Each room was approached with intention, using scent to complement the natural rhythm and character of the home.

The goal was not to draw attention to fragrance itself, but to shape perception—enhancing presence, memory, and emotional connection.

Selected Collaboration:

Wrabel — Album Release Experience

Halsonus partnered with recording artist and songwriter Wrabel to shape the atmosphere for an intimate album release event celebrating Up Above.

An ALPHA environment was selected—fresh, expansive, and grounding—to support relaxed attention and emotional openness. Essential oil diffusion and Brain Wave candles created an atmosphere that encouraged guests to settle, connect, and fully experience the live performance.

The evening opened with a brief guided meditation led by founder Maranda Barskey, helping guests transition from the pace of the outside world into presence before the performance began.

Founder

Halsonus was founded by psychotherapist Maranda Barskey, whose work explores the intersection of psychology, neuroscience, sensory perception, and design.

Her background spans the arts, movement, and clinical practice, including collaborations and workshops with Genesis, Paul Smith, Josie Maran Cosmetics, The Standard Hotel, and touring with Childish Gambino.

Drawing from both clinical practice and creative work, she designs sensory experiences that explore how subtle, well-timed inputs can influence attention, emotion, and the way people experience a space.
